After a long gap of silence, Within Temptation is finally back. New music has been released, with the first single – “The Reckoning” featuring Papa Roach singer Jacoby Shaddix – from their upcoming record “RESIST“. But without this album, the seventh studio album of the Dutch rock band, Within Temptation would not be here anymore.
It’s been a hard time for Within Temptation, especially its co-founder and front woman Sharon den Adel. She suffered from a writers block, personal health and family sickness in the past years. She decided to take a step back and take care of the things that she cared of the most, first. She then started writing songs again to process it all. Turned out not to be Within Temptation material. She decided to release the songs with her personal side project, “My Indigo“.
She then found motivation and the power again to write new songs for Within Temptation. In 2017 she announced new work was going to be released in 2018 and the album was scheduled for release somewhere 2019. Since last Thursday, we’ve learned they made fast progress, since the album is scheduled for its release this December 2018.
As we posted back in 2017, the end of Within Temptation was predicted to be near. Not news which fans though was true or supposed to be published. However, we now learned and got confirmed, this was about to happen. If “RESIST” was not going to happen, Within Temptation would not be here anymore.
“RESIST” is a true milestone for us. If it wasn’t for “RESIST“, Within Temptation wouldn’t be here anymore. With this record, we’ve taken inspiration from modern music and gave it a face – a very dark one. Sometimes it feels that today’s pop music lacks a rebellious edge.
Our main goal was to collect pieces from sounds we did like and roughen it up as much as we could, resulting in a surprisingly new musical world that is heavier, dirtier and more futuristic than we’ve ever created before. Resist is our take on metal in a new way: to give modern music its rebellious edge.
The seventh full length studio album is now available for pre-order through various retailers worldwide.
