“RESIST” by Within Temptation is a fact. We posted our information earlier, and was recently confirmed by the band due to a leak by EMP International. The first single taken from the upcoming seventh studio album of the Dutch rock band, “The Reckoning“, is scheduled for release on Friday 14 September 2018. We now know more about the album, let’s dig into the details!
RESIST
The seventh studio album by the Dutch rock band is scheduled for release 14 December 2018, as we wrote before. The album has been in process for over four years and will now finally see its debut. The album is themed in a Matrix and robotic kind of feeling. The photoshoot which was recently revealed by the magazine Metal Hammer has a very Star Wars feeling to it.
The first track “The Reckoning“, which is in collaboration with Papa Roach singer Jacoby Shaddix, confirms this. The band kept themselves to their promises, “RESIST” promises to be a lot more heavy compared to its 2014-release “Hydra“. The standard edition of the 2018-album will count 10 tracks.
The Reckoning
The album kicks off with their first – officially – released single “The Reckoning” and ends nine tracks later with its 10th track. However, a deluxe edition of “RESIST” was confirmed already. The tracks 11 to 20 are the full album in instrumental. It seems Within Temptation has found itself a new tradition, after “Hydra“, they will release the full instrumental version of it as well.

Artwork not final?
Recently, we were pointed on an important fact about the album artwork of the seventh and upcoming studio album of Within Temptation. “RESIST” is using existing digital art, which was previously released in January 2017. We’ve reached out to both the digital artist as the management of Within Temptation, but they have not responded on our questions.
Raise met anders
In the meanwhile, we also learned the previously (accidentally) released track (by a certain band member and co-founder) “Raise“, is actually called “Raise Your Banners”. As we predicted by the name, the collaboration is with Anders Fridén from In Flames.

Since the pre-order of “RESIST” was started on Friday 14 September, we can now happily announce the ten tracks which will be included on the upcoming studio album of Within Temptation.

The track “Firelight”, which is in collaboration with Jasper Steverlinck was originally written for the solo album by Sharon den Adel with her project “My Indigo“. However, the track got not included. The track was announced to be ‘too dark’ for “My Indigo”.
On “RESIST” we will experience the first track which is written by Stefan Helleblad for Within Temptation. The album ends with “Trophy Hunter”, and is written by the Swedish guitar player of the band.
